The United Nations NGO branch has contacted the Celtic League with details of a TV debate (the first of a series) to be broadcast on 30th June 2010 under the auspices of its Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).
The debate entitled, "Women's empowerment, development cooperation and culture", is aiming to maximise participation and groups and individuals can submit questions and comments on-line (see full text of the communication received below):

The United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) is launching the first of a series of television debates, "Face to Face".
On 30 June 2010, DESA, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will gather experts at United Nations Headquarters in New York to discuss the theme, "Women's empowerment, development cooperation and culture".
Ms. Thoraya Obaid of UNFPA, Ms. Irina Bokova of UNESCO, Ms. Kavita Ramdas of the Global Fund for Women; and Professor Kwame Anthony Appiah of Princeton University will participate in this important event.
The debate will be moderated by Ms. Daljit Dhaliwal, Host of 21st Century UN Television Series and former TV anchor of the ABC News Now, BBC, CNN International, and the Independent TV News (ITN).
