The Celtic League AGM last weekend held in Dublin expressed concern at the lack of progress in achieving an Irish Language Act. The delivery of such legislation was 'promised' as part of the 2006 St Andrews Agreement however progress has been painfully slow.
It was eventually resolved that:
"Tacaíonn an Chruinniu Chinn Bhliana seo leis na hiarrachtaí le hAcht Gaeilge a bhaint amach sa Tuaisceart."
"This AGM supports the efforts to achieve an Irish Language Act in the North of Ireland."
It was agreed that a considerable proportion of League effort in 2008/9 at both National (Ireland) and General Council level would be devoted to support for this resolution.
