The Cornish branch has registered a further complaint with the Commission for Racial Equality (CRE) and has also placed on record its concern over the Commissions earlier failures to deal with discrimination issues involving the Cornish people.

I write further to the above references wishing to draw to your attention another case of racist comment and behaviour directed towards a Cornish National.
We continue to collect similar instances believing that in ignoring our reports and pleas for assistance, the CRE are being institutionally racist towards the Cornish minority and possibly in breach of legislation in place to allow for the creation of the CRE and its remit and operations.
This letter was received by our organisation from a Mr. Matthew Crocker of Saltash and I repeat hereunder his exact words:
'I am a bus driver for Western Greyhound and one of my passengers is trying to teach me Cornish so as we were talking, an English person decided to make the remark of calling us bloody foreigners and said that there is no such thing as the Cornish language and that all Cornish are just pissed off straw sucking inbred wurzels.'
Despite the obvious inaccuracies of the Englishman's comments (Cornish having now become an officially recognised and funded language by both the Westminster Government and the European Union) , Mr. Crocker and others, including myself, find these comments to be of a racist nature.
Devon & Cornwall Police have refused to deal with the matter as they have with the other incidents already reported to you.
I would appreciate your acknowledgement of this letter and others posted to you even if you refuse to take any action.
Yours faithfully
Michael J.T. Chappell Secretary - An Kesunyans Keltek Scoren Kernewek"
