The Celtic League is continuing to press the United Kingdom government over the schedule for launching a Gaelic television channel in Scotland.
In correspondence to Culture Minister, James Purnell MP, the Celtic League Secretary General also asks if the channel will be available on FREEVIEW (see below).

Dear Rt Hon James Purnell MP
Launch of Gaelic TV
I am writing to you to ascertain when the launch date will be of the proposed Gaelic TV channel in Scotland.
To date, the launch of the channel has been delayed repeatedly, since its planned launch in January 2007, with the first transmission due to be broadcast around October 2007. However, it now seems that this date will be pushed further back.
In addition, the Celtic League would like to know the answers to the following questions:
Why has the launch of this channel taken so long to organise? What funding will your Department contribute to the launch? Will Gaelic TV will be available via a Freeview service at some point in the future and if not why?
We will look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
Rhisiart Tal-e-bot General Secretary Celtic League"
