On the same day earlier this week that petitioners lobbied the Petitions Committee and European Commission about Hafod quarry parallel concerns about the Liquified Natural Gas (LNG) pipeline in South Wales were voiced by protesters who gathered in Brussels.

More evidence was submitted yesterday by concerned residents about the LNG pipeline that is planned to run 150 miles from Milford Haven to Gloucestershire, passing only a few meters by schools and houses. A petition against the LNG pipeline was submitted in December and a second petition addresses the safety of the LNG terminals in Milford Haven.

Once again protesters were given sterling support by Plaid Cymru MEP Jill Evans and Plaid Cymru AM Bethan Jenkins.

Speaking after Brussels protests, Jill Evans MEP said :

"I'm obviously very pleased that the Petitions Committee decided to keep all three petitions open and have requested further information to help them establish if there are any breaches of EU law.

"The Petitions Committee and European Commission take these cases very serious, and obviously think there may be a case to answer."

The Welsh protests over the pipeline dangers mirror concerns in North Mayo by Shell to Sea campaigners - see links below :
