NEWS FROM THE CELTIC LEAGUE In February (2013) the Celtic League wrote to the British and Irish governments asking some straight forward questions about both countries involvement with the International Police Organisation (INTERPOL). To date there has been no response so the League has addressed a follow-up query to both governments expressing bemusement at their silence (see below): The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom
Mr David Cameron MP

London SW1A 2AA 27/05/13 Dear Prime Minister, In February 2013 we submitted a query to the Home Office seeking information about the United Kingdoms involvement in the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) and specifically any oversight of the bodies' finances or functioning which the UK undertakes. It is now over three months since our query and the Home Office have yet to reply. I am somewhat bemused by the reticence to respond as other queries to the Home Office (and other UK government agencies) over the years generally receive a prompt reply. I appreciate that all agencies have resource constraints but I feel you will agree that our original query should not have stretched the ability of the Home Office to reply promptly. I would be grateful if your Office could inquire into this matter and that a suitable response to our query from Her Majesty's Government is elicited. For information I enclose a copy of the original query. Yours sincerely An Taoiseach

Ireland 27/05/13 Dear Taoiseach, In February 2013 we submitted a query to the Office of Justice Minister Alan Shatter seeking information about Ireland's involvement in the International Criminal Police Organisation (INTERPOL) and specifically any oversight of the bodies' finances or functioning which the Irish government undertake. It is now over three months since our query to Minister Shatter and we have yet to receive a reply. I am somewhat bemused by the reticence to respond as other queries to the Justice Department (and other Irish government agencies) over the years generally receive a prompt reply. I appreciate that all agencies have resource constraints but I feel you will agree that our original query should not have stretched the Department in respect of its ability to reply promptly. I would be grateful if your Office could inquire into this matter and that a suitable response to our query from the Justice Department is forthcoming. For information I enclose a copy of the original query. Yours sincerely Related link here on Celtic News: (voir le site) J B Moffatt (Mr)
