The Celtic Congress is currently holding its annual general meeting (AGM) in the Manx capital of Douglas, which will conclude this Saturday (10th April 2010).

The agm brings together delegates from throughout the six Celtic countries and beyond to discuss issues related to the theme of inter Celtic communication. The conference - held at the Claremont Hotel – will also provide Celtic Congress branches with an opportunity to present resolutions on a range of different issues related to the Celtic countries.

One such issue that the Kernow branch of the League hopes will get an airing at the agm is its campaign for the National Trust (NT) to use bilingual signs on its properties in Cornwall. Last week the Chairperson of the Cornwall Celtic Congress branch contacted the League's General Secretary Rhisiart Tal-e-bot, to say that he personally supported the campaign and that he would be in touch with branch delegates in Mannin/Isle of Man, to see if an emergency resolution could be introduced to support the campaign.

In his email, Tony Piper said that:

"I support your call for the N.T. in Kernow to use bilingual signage... (we) may just be able to introduce this as an `Emergency Motion' or at the very least garner additional support for the cause."

The Kernow branch of the League are considering putting forward a resolution of their own at the 2010 AGM of the League, which will also be held in Mannin, calling for the NT to use bilingual signs on their properties in Cornwall.
