Several people have been presented with the newly designed Celtic League flag following their assistance in helping to organise the fiftieth anniversary of the Celtic League's general assembly in Falkirk, Scotland. Among those to receive the flag as a token of the League's appreciation for their help was Falkirk Council, First Minister Salmond and Angus MacDonald Member of the Scottish Parliament. As well as hosting the Celtic League, Falkirk Council flew the Celtic League flag outside the Council building for the duration of the AGM. The letter below is a copy of the one sent to Provost Reid. 13/11/11 Provost Pat Reid ker Celtic League: 50th anniversary conference (28th - 30th October 2011) I am writing to offer our thanks and appreciation for your support in officially opening the public session of the Celtic League's 50th anniversary conference in Falkirk last month and the reception offered to delegates in your private chambers. As a small token of our appreciation we would like to offer Falkirk Council the enclosed flag that was specially designed in celebration of our 50th anniversary. The Celtic knot in the middle of the flag represents the motto of our organisation: six nations - one soul. The six loops of the Celtic knot are symbolic of the six Celtic nations and the knot itself represents the one interconnecting `soul' that joins all of our nations together. The three flags at the top are the Goidelic speaking nations and those at the bottom are the Brythonic speaking nations. Falkirk council chambers were a prestigious venue for our conference and the people of Falkirk made delegates feel particularly welcome. I understand that you have become a member of the Celtic League following the conference and I look forward to keeping in contact with you in the future.
